I'm not into this kind of movies at all! I watch it by myself late at night because I thought I'll just fall asleep to it. I found myself smiling throughout the entire movie and dreaming about being a kid again. Watch it again with my kids and we all love it.

I think Stan wanted his brother to lose his mind hence why he was on "anti-psychotics" which were making him crazy. Stan adopted a black boy for black votes and didn't need him anymore so they concocted this elaborate hoax about his son so that Beaux would be murdered and Stan could use this sympathy/tragedy in his next election. This is why the last line Stan says is "Mental Health for Everyone!" He was excited 2 birds were killed with one stone, he no longer has an adopted son and his brother is out of the picture. Notice no police were involved, probably because the boys never committed the crime. The main Character has made up memories about a basketball and a door, this "tragedy" was probably one of his fantasies again.
